Sixteen people were slain in the Halifax Regional Municipality this year. However, a nursing-home death in 2005 was reclassified as a homicide, bringing the official total to 17.

The knife icon represents a stabbing and the gun represents a shooting. A red cross marks where someone was killed in another fashion, or when the cause of death is not known.
