Halifax Regional Police are hoping a $150,000 reward will help solve the case of a pizza delivery driver who was shot to death last year.

Nova Scotia's Justice Department has added the case of Donald Chad Smith to its Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

Smith, 27, was shot just before 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, 2010. He was found at a three-storey apartment building at 15 Joseph Young St. in north-end Dartmouth.

"We would like to bring some closure to the family and friends of the victim and bring the people responsible before the courts," said Halifax Regional Police Const. Brian Palmeter.

On the night Smith was shot, the call to the pizza shop was placed from a pay phone on Highfield Park Drive between Joseph Young and Burnside Drive, police said. The pay phone is located outside, near the road.

Police have said the case is troubling because there's no evidence the shooter knew the victim.

Palmeter said the police remain optimistic the availability of the reward will help.

"We are hoping it's going to generate some information," he said.

"It's a sizable amount of money that's available to somebody that can provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible in this case."
