Madonna fans are already getting excited over the possibility that the legendary pop star will be the next major concert to be held at Moncton’s outdoor Magnetic Hill concert site.

Hotels in Moncton say they are already receiving calls from fans who are booking rooms on the chance the show will happen at the outdoor concert venue that has recently held mega concerts with bands, such as U2, AC/DC and the Rolling Stones.

Renee Landry, who works at the Crowne Plaza in Moncton, said on Thursday that she heard the rumour from a customer who was booking a block of rooms.

“Then he goes, ‘And I have another reservation to make, I heard Madonna's coming in town so I want to make a reservation and be ready for the show,'" Landry said.

The rumours are being fuelled by a document that appears to be a draft of Madonna’s 2012 tour itinerary.

The document was leaked to a fan website. It says that Madonna will perform on July 20 at the Magnetic Hill Music Festival, but that the concert has not been confirmed.

Cathy Donaldson grew up listening to the "Material Girl" and saw Madonna live in 1993. She said if the rumours are true she will be buying a ticket.

“I was surprised but thrilled and now that I've posted a little message on my Facebook site a few, quite a few, friends have said they'd love to come and they're looking at booking hotel rooms already," Donaldson said.

The leaked tour itinerary has the letterhead of promoter Live Nation, and shows the 38 city tour beginning March 31 in New Zealand. The only other Canadian concert listed is at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

The City of Moncton did not comment on the possibility of a concert.

In an email to CBC News, Liz Rosenberg, a publicist for Madonna, said, "We have no information regarding a Madonna tour at this time. Disregard rumours and fake schedules."

Moncton has been looking for an act to top the U2 concert from earlier this year.

It is estimated that 75,000 people packed into the outdoor concert venue.

U2 is the latest in a long line of big-name bands that have played at the outdoor concert site. The mega-concerts started with the Rolling Stones, who were followed by Bon Jovi, AC/DC, the Eagles and Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
