A 20-year-old man who fought with two masked intruders was killed when a gun was fired during the incident at a home near Halifax on Sunday night.
Jason Dockrill, of Lakeside, was killed as he struggled with the intruders, RCMP spokesman Cpl. Scott MacRae said.
MacRae said a suspect has been released and charges are pending upon completion of the police investigation.
A significant amount of cash and marijuana was seized from the home, during the investigation, MacRae said.
RCMP said two males wearing masks broke into a house on St. Margaret's Bay Road in Lakeside at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
Meanwhile, investigators are looking for two suspects in the break-in.
The property was blocked off with yellow tape Monday morning as police continued to investigate.
