Joseph Emile Luc Potvin will answer to sex charges in Dartmouth Monday. A volleyball coach and referee from Dartmouth, N.S., has been charged with sex offences involving a 17-year-old girl.
Joseph Emile "Luc" Potvin, 53, faces charges of luring a child, sexual exploitation and possession of child pornography. The charges stem from alleged offences between April and May 2010.
Court records allege Potvin unlawfully used a computer to communicate with a person under 18 for the purpose of sexual exploitation; had related images and written material and that he was in a position of trust or authority and allegedly abused that position for a sexual purpose by touching directly or indirectly a young person's body with part of his body.
Police raided a Portland Hills Drive apartment Friday morning. They said they found evidence of child pornography on computer equipment and took a man into custody.
Potvin will spend the weekend in the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility before attending a bail hearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court Monday.
Police said they received a complaint last week that led to Friday's arrest.
