Fiance Jamie Leopold says he last saw Robertson on Thursday morning. (submitted) A body found in southwestern Nova Scotia Wednesday is that of a woman reported missing two weeks ago, RCMP confirmed Thursday.
RCMP said the body of Laura Lee Robertson, 47, was found in a wooded area off Highway 210 in Greenfield. Her identity was confirmed by fingerprints, Sgt. Brigdit Leger said.
Earlier Wednesday, Robertson's fiance James Leroy Leopold was charged with second-degree murder in the case.
Leopold, 31, has another court appearance scheduled for May.
Robertson, a fish plant worker, was last seen by a family friend at 4 p.m. on April 14. She was reported missing at 11 p.m. that evening by a friend. She lived with Leopold in Liverpool.
In an interview with CBC News last week, Leopold said he did nothing to harm Robertson and was anxiously awaiting news of her whereabouts.
Leopold has said he saw Robertson the morning she was reported missing. Since her disappearance, he had been staying with relatives in Bangs Falls, Queens County, where friends and family of Robertson organized a search effort Friday.
Amanda Jones Robertson, Laura Robertson's daughter, has said the family had concerns about her mother's relationship with Leopold.
