The Atlantic Concert, an ACL container ship, arrived in Halifax on Wednesday. (Shipspotting.com)Border security agents are searching a container ship in Halifax for possible stowaways.
Officers with the Canada Border Services Agency were called to the Atlantic Concert on Wednesday, said an agency spokeswoman.
"They are doing a full search," Laurie Gillmore said Thursday.
The team is trained to search small spaces. They are using dogs to sniff out people who may be hiding.
Gillmore would not confirm a media report that two stowaways have already been discovered.
The Atlantic Concert, an Atlantic Container Line ship, left England on Feb. 6 and arrived in Halifax on Wednesday.
It's scheduled to arrive in New York on Saturday.
In April 2009, seven male stowaways were found aboard the Atlantic Concert after it docked in Halifax.
