A young man was struck in the face after he was surrounded by 10 people Thursday night in Halifax, police say.
The attack happened at 9:30 p.m. on a path by the George Dixon Centre, off Gottingen Street.
Halifax Regional Police said a group made up of males and females approached the man as he was walking down the path, then one of the males hit him in the chin with a stick.
The 24-year-old victim ran to a nearby business and called police. He was taken to a hospital for treatment for a cut.
Police searched the area but didn't turn up anything. No other details are known. There are no descriptions of the people who surrounded the victim, other than they are all black.
This was the latest attack by a group in central Halifax. Police have not said whether it is related to seven other swarmings that have occurred since the Labour Day weekend.
In each of those cases, a group approached the victims by asking for a cigarette or a light, then inflicted a beating. Some of the victims were robbed.
Police have not charged anyone in those attacks.
