Crews fix a power outage in south-end Halifax on Thursday. (CBC)Thousands of Nova Scotians lost their power on Thursday in a series of outages, including one related to Saturday's hurricane.
About 4,700 homes and businesses from Halifax to Sydney were without electricity at one point Thursday morning.
Nova Scotia Power said a major outage in downtown Halifax was caused when an Earl-weakened branch took out a power line.
In Halifax between 2,300 and 2,400 customers were affected. Some stores and businesses in the Spring Garden Road area closed for a couple of hours.
In parts of Cape Breton and Guysborough County, outages were blamed on heavy rain and lightning overnight.
A school in Dominion had to close at 12:30 Thursday because it didn't have power.
Nova Scotia Power said all customers around the province were reconnected by 3 p.m.
