Hurricane Danielle has brought ideal surfing conditions to Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore, as well as surfers, who have flown to the province to take advantage.

Danielle and other offshore storms are credited for the unusually warm water and two-metre waves along the coast, including Lawrencetown Beach, not far from Halifax.

Keith Clark, owner of the Happy Dudes surf shop, says technology has improved the surfing business.

"Especially nowadays, where everyone's on the internet and there's all kinds of websites out there that predict what the surf is going to be," he said. "A lot of the kids years ago, they would just drive out here and if it was flat, they drove the whole trip. … Nowadays they all sit home and look at their computers and when they see three or four stars, they all come out."

Eliot Johnson flew in from Toronto to catch some waves.

"Danielle was on her way, so had to hop on a plane and get down here," he said.

Surfers say that with the water around 20 C they can dive in without a wetsuit.

The ideal surfing conditions are expected to last until Tuesday. The weakening hurricane is not expected to make landfall.
