Nova Scotia government officials are heading to Britain next week to recruit software development companies to set up in the province, the premier says.

Premier Darrell Dexter said Thursday the province has a tax credit for this type of business and Britain recently eliminated its subsidy.

"We think it's a great match for Nova Scotia. It fits with our skills development program, it fits with the universities, it fits with the number of young people we have," he said.

"The reality is that the current government in the U.K. has completely cancelled all of their media tax credits. As a result thereof, there is a considerable interest in many of those companies looking for other jurisdictions."

Dexter said he will also be on the look out for software developers from the Boston-area when he attends the annual meeting of New England Governors and Eastern Premiers.

The meeting is scheduled for July 12 in Lenox, Massachusetts.
