A Nova Scotia member of the Hells Angels charged with two counts of first-degree murder in Montreal has been flown to Quebec onboard an RCMP plane.

Jeffrey Albert Lynds, 42, a member of the elite Nomads chapter of the Hells Angels, is accused of killing two men in Montreal earlier this year at a McDonald's restaurant.

Lynds was arrested by police in Bible Hill, N.S, on Monday, following an investigation into the slaying of the men in Montreal's Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district Jan. 24.

Wednesday morning he was transferred from the Central Nova Correctional Centre by a heavily armed RCMP tactical team and rushed to a waiting plane at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

As Montreal police cuffed and chained Lynds at the waist in preparation for the flight, he tried to keep his red Hell's Angels sweater over his head.

Lynds stuck out his tongue and made rude gestures at a television camera.

Once in Montreal, Lynds will be interrogated by investigators with the major crimes unit.

Lynds was arrested in December 2001 in a series of raids targeting the Halifax chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang. He was sentenced to three years in prison as a result of that raid, dubbed Operation Hammer, and given a lifetime firearms ban. He has since been released.

At the time of Operation Hammer and later, police identified Lynds as a suspected member of the Nomads.
