A woman who's been trying for almost two years to save her dog from being put down will appear in a Nova Scotia courtroom Friday for sentencing.
Francesca Rogier of East Chezzetcook was found guilty earlier this year of violating an animal control bylaw after Brindi, her mixed breed dog, attacked another animal.
The judge handling the case agreed to delay sentencing so Rogier could get an animal behaviouralist to assess her impounded dog.
Six-year-old Brindi has been held at an SPCA shelter since it was seized by the municipality in 2008.
Provincial court Judge Alanna Murphy must decide what to do with the dog.
She has a range of options to consider including having the animal put down as a threat to the public welfare, returned to its owner, or handed to a third party for continuing care.
