Reebok Canada is offering a $10,000 reward for the return of Sidney Crosby's stick and a glove, which went missing after he scored in overtime to give Canada the gold medal in men's hockey at the Vancouver Olympics last Sunday.

After Crosby scored the winning goal on U.S. goaltender Ryan Miller, the Pittsburgh Penguins captain flung his stick and gloves into the air and celebrated.

But the disappearance of one glove and his stick remains a mystery.

Hockey Canada and Reebok, Crosby's major sponsor, want the equipment back. So the athletic-equipment maker hopes the $10,000 reward will speed up the return of the items.

A company spokesman in Montreal said Reebok is willing to pay the reward with no questions asked to anyone who can return Crosby's gear.

"The stick and glove are priceless," said Len Rhodes, vice-president and general manager for Reebok Hockey CCM."There's absolutely no substitute for that exact stick and glove."

Hockey Canada believes somebody took the stick and glove after the ice-clearing gates were opened and dozens of people swarmed the ice getting ready for the gold-medal ceremony.

Tapes reviewed

The Vancouver police have been working informally on the case, reviewing tapes from security cameras. But the police have not opened up a formal investigation into Crosby's lost gear.

Reebok's spokesman said if the missing stick and glove are found, they would be turned over to Crosby and it would be up to him to decide whether to give them to the Hockey Hall of Fame or keep them in his trophy case.

"He's been a very close partner of ours and a member of the Reebok hockey family," said Rhodes."We just wanted to do what we thought was right."

This isn't the first time some of Crosby's hockey equipment has disappeared after a big game.

In 2005, the Cole Harbour, N.S., native's jersey went missing after Canada's gold-medal win over Russia at the world junior hockey championship in Grand Forks, N.D.

The jersey was later found in a mailbox outside a post office in Lachute, Que.
