Talk about an easy night for police.

Halifax Regional Police had no trouble catching three thieves in separate incidents early Friday.

In two cases, officers in Dartmouth tracked footprints in the fresh snow to find their suspects.

Police said thieves made off with a number of items after they broke into three or four vehicles in the Brookdale Crescent and Crichton Park areas.

With the help of a police dog, officers followed footprints around the vehicles and were led to a 16-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man.

The two suspects will be charged with theft and possession of stolen property, police said.

In another case, an officer was on patrol when he heard glass breaking at an Easy Home store in Halifax. He then saw a man go in through a broken window and come out with a flat-screen TV, said police.

The officer chased the man around the building and arrested him. A 35-year-old man faces charges of theft and breaking and entering.
