Joel Plaskett took home four trophies from the Music Nova Scotia Awards on Sunday. (Andrew Vaughan/Canadian Press)Dartmouth rocker Joel Plaskett turned Three into four Sunday at the Music Nova Scotia Awards in Yarmouth.
Plaskett and his hit release Three won in four categories: Rock Artist, Album of the Year, Male Artist Recording and Songwriter of the Year.
Though Plaskett has won several of these awards over the years, he said it never gets tiring.
"It's nice to know that there's an audience that cares," he said. "It gives me the impetus to kind of push the boundaries of what I'm doing."
The Stanfields won best Group Recording and New Group of the Year for their self-titled EP, while Jenn Grant picked up best Female Artist for her album, Echoes.
Charlie A'Court was named Entertainer of the Year — an award based on online votes from fans.
Dave Carroll's very public dispute with United Airlines and the resulting video, United Breaks Guitars, earned him Video of the Year and Digital Artist of the Year.
"I should probably start off by thanking United Airlines," Carroll said. "I took a stand and found a creative way to voice my rage — and a Canadian way, I'm told."
The awards gala at the Yarmouth Mariners Centre was hosted by Bruce Guthro and Jimmy Flynn.
