A Cape Breton company that makes energy-efficient glass has laid off nearly every one of its workers, citing money woes.

Advanced Glazings president Rob Nearing said about 30 people were let go Friday, except for a small group to finish orders.

Nearing blamed "a cash flow problem" and said he hopes the work stoppage lasts only a few weeks.

"I am operating with the full intent of being back on track," he told the Cape Breton Post.

Nearing recently replaced Doug Milburn, the inventor of the glass and founder of the firm, in the top job. Milburn launched a wrongful dismissal lawsuit last year.

Advanced Glazings makes specialized windows that diffuse natural light and insulate buildings.
