A search for a man suspected of trying to steal money from a parking meter ended with a cellphone ring, Halifax police say.
Police said Friday they got a call at 3 a.m. AT that two men — one in all black and the other wearing a bathrobe — were trying to smash open a parking meter on University Avenue.
Officers spotted one suspect right away and arrested him. They found the second suspect in a garbage bin by following the ring of a cellphone.
Police said two men, 20 and 23 years old, will appear in court to face charges of attempted theft and property damage.
