The Crown has dropped the remaining charges against Donald Marshall Jr. following what it calls a successful healing circle.

Marshall was charged with attempted murder last year, accused of trying to run over a man with a vehicle in Membertou on Jan. 1, 2006.

That charge was withdrawn and the case was moved out of the courts after the two men agreed to abide by the conditions of a healing circle.

The healing circle, which involved Membertou elders, was held in December and ended with both men agreeing to do community service.

At a court hearing Monday, the Crown, as well as the defence, called the circle a success and withdrew the remaining charges of uttering threats and dangerous driving.

Marshall was at the centre of two high-profile legal cases in Canada.

He was released from prison after spending 11 years behind bars for a murder he didn't commit and was later fully exonerated.

Marshall was also involved in an aboriginal rights case that made it to the Supreme Court of Canada. The court's landmark ruling in 1999 reaffirmed the treaty right of Mi'kmaq to fish for a moderate livelihood.
