Billy Dee Williams, known for playing the character Lando Calrissian in the original Star Wars franchise, says he isn't tired about talking to fans about the series yet.

He'll be headlining the fourth Hal-Con, the annual sc-fi, fantasy and gaming convention in Halifax this weekend.

“It’s been a mainstay in my life, so it doesn’t bother me,” he told CBC Radio. "It's my raison d'être, my reason for being."

Williams said sometimes children still get mad at him because his character betrayed Han Solo in the movies.

"You have to stand there and explain the whole situation. It gets to be pretty amusing," he said.

Jewel Staite from Firefly — the short lived, fan favourite show will also be in town. So will the fifth incarnation of Doctor Who.

But for Star Wars fans, the biggest draw will be Williams for his role in the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Hal-Con starts Friday, but CBC’s Mainstreet couldn’t wait.
