A 57-year-old man from North Kentville, N.S., faces several charges after he locked himself inside a home for 14 hours overnight.

Police said someone from the house on Tupper Road called 911 shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said the man threatened to harm himself and others so an emergency response team was called in and advised neighbours not to go outdoors. A negotiator was also called in.

RCMP arrested the man around 5 a.m. on Monday and seized an imitation handgun.

Officers initially reported that a woman was also inside the house, but no one else was found.

The man is facing several Criminal Code charges including weapons offences. He will appear in court later today.
