Stalled train blocks highway in rural Cape Breton
Railway company says block of ice on the tracks caused train to stop
A nine-car train is blocking a highway in rural Cape Breton, Waycobah RCMP say.
Police received a call at approximately 2 p.m. about a train off the tracks on Orangedale- Iona Road on Monday.
When police arrived the train was still on the tracks and there were no injuries or damage to property.
A spokesman for the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway blames a block of ice on the tracks for the delay.
Another train is currently travelling to the site to remove the train cars blocking the road.
The RCMP has left the scene however the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway expects the highway to be reopened later this evening.
