Stabbing on St. Margarets Bay Road sends man to hospital
Man received 'significant facial injury' after slashed in the face, police say
One man was sent to hospital and another has been charged following a stabbing incident this morning on St. Margarets Bay Road.
At 4:25 a.m. Halifax Regional Police were called to the roadside near the intersection of St. Margarets Bay Road and Albert Walker Drive.
The victim, a 28-year-old man got into an altercation with a 29-year-old man. The pair began to fight and the victim was slashed in the face with a "sharp object, resulting in significant facial injury," police said.
“The victim has since been released from hospital. He took a significant number of stitches but he has been released,” said HRP Staff Sgt. Lindsay Hernden.
The victim and the suspect know each other, police said.
Police went to the suspect's home in the 6000 block of Jubilee Road. They were able to confirm the suspect was in the home.
At first, the suspect was uncooperative, police said but he eventually surrendered.
While this was going on, police closed Jubilee between Chestnut and Preston streets.
The suspect faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and impaired driving.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court Monday morning.
