Spring has sprung and the golfers are swinging
West Pubnico, River Hills and Fox Hollow declare winter is over
A golf course in south-western Nova Scotia opened Friday morning — about two weeks later than most seasons.
Ken Jacquard, the general manager for the West Pubnico Golf Club, says when he arrived Friday morning, there were people waiting to get on the course.
"At least you get out and you get the exercise and you get to play with your friends. They’re all smiles. They’re having a ball," he said.
Jacquard predicted Nova Scotia has seen the end of the snowstorms, so it should be good golfing weather for the rest of the season.
About 25 people were playing on the course by lunchtime, he said.
The River Hills Golf Course in Clyde River and Fox Hollow Golf Club in Stewiacke also opened Friday.
