A 60-year-old man was shot inside a home in the 600 block of Parkland Drive in Halifax early this morning, according to Halifax Regional Police.

Police were called to the area around 2 a.m. where they found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound.

"A man had called and reported that he had been shot inside a residence, we responded and located the gentleman," said Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders.

"He did call it in himself, but we have not received much information from him, he was transported immediately to hospital."

Police believe his injuries are life threatening injuries.

"He is still in hospital receiving medical treatment," said Saunders.

Despite a search by police and the K9 unit no suspects were found.

Police are searching for three white male suspects, one was wearing a black hooded sweater with black pants, the second was wearing a black hooded sweater with grey pants and the third wore a black winter jacket with a hood, jeans and sneakers.

It's not clear if the victim and the suspects know each other, said police.

Their investigation is still in its preliminary stages.
