The military police are investigating after a shot was fired in a home on the Shearwater base near Halifax Saturday morning.

Sgt. Brett Thomas said police got a call to a home around 10 a.m.

A man, an active member of the military, was then taken into custody.

The military police said there are no reported injuries and there was no threat to public safety.

"Our priority is to make sure we handle the member with care and consideration. That we ensure his safety” said Capt. Angus Topshee, base commander for CFB Halifax.

He said firearms were seized from the home, but they weren’t military-issued guns.

They haven’t released the man's name, citing privacy reasons.

Topshee said it's too early to determine if any charges will be laid.
