Halifax police charged Shilo Marcino Beals with the murder of Kevin Bowser Monday and warned the public the Cherry Brook suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

The charge was announced just over ten years after Bowser died. Police were called to a shooting on Uniacke Street and found Bowser, 28, badly hurt by gunshot. He died on on July 10, 2004.

On Monday, Halifax police issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Beals, 31. He faces a charge of first-degree murder and six weapons offences.

Police think Beals is in the Halifax area.

"He is considered armed and dangerous and members of the public should not approach him or try to take matters into their own hands," police said.

Instead, anyone who sees him should call police at 902-490-5020 or through Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Beals stands five feet ten inches.
