A flipped tractor-trailer is stalling traffic headed to industrial Cape Breton today, warn Nova Scotia RCMP.
Police are diverting traffic after a tractor-trailer crashed at the base of Kellys Mountain. They said the truck flipped on a sharp turn around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.
"[The truck] is presently on its side blocking the west bound lane. Traffic in that area is reduced to one lane. There is traffic control on the go there and expect delays. Depending on the traffic delays, it could be up to five to ten minutes there," said Sgt. Henry Poswiata.
He's advising motorists who want to leave the island to use Route 4 rather than going over Kellys Mountain.
Poswiata estimates it will take most of the day to get the transport truck off the road.
Police said the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
It's unclear what led to the crash, although Poswiata believes speed and black ice may have been a factor.
The truck was carrying Sears catalogues.
