A 50-year-old Sackville man is in hospital with serious burns after a workplace mishap Tuesday morning at a Beaver Bank golf course.

RCMP, fire and Department of Labour investigators were called to the Lost Creek Golf Club at around 8:30 a.m.

A man was burned while clearing brush at the golf course. RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae said when the man went to pour an accelerant on the burning pile, he was engulfed by the flames.

Paramedics rushed him to the emergency department at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre.

Despite the serious burns, MacRae said the man's injuries are not life-threatening.
