Police issued a Canada-wide warrant to arrest a Halifax man in connection with an armed abduction earlier this month.
Robert Roech Chan, 21, faces multiple charges after police responded to an abduction complaint on March 2.
“Chan is considered armed and dangerous and members of the public should not approach him or try to take matters into their own hands,” Halifax police said in a news release.
A 19-year-old man called police early on March 2 and said he was being held in a residence on the 3000 block of McAlpine Avenue. He said he was being assaulted and held against his will.
Chan stands 6’1”, weighs 170 lbs and has short black hair and brown eyes.
The complainant said one of his alleged captors had a handgun. He left the house when police arrived.
Chan faces many charges:
- nine weapon-related offences
- aggravated assault
- assault with a weapon
- unlawful confinement
- uttering threats
Police think Chan left Atlantic Canada.
Four people also faces charges: Daniel Angus Ryan, 20, two 16-year-old boys and a 16-year-old girl.
Police say the alleged victim and perpetrators know each other and it was not random. Police earlier issued a regional warrant for Chan's arrest.
