RCMP save feathered family during 'ducklings mission'
The RCMP are proud as peacocks after an officer saved a family of ducks from a storm drain on Friday night.
Drivers called the police after they found a mother duck frantic on Highway 7 outside of Dartmouth around 9 p.m. Someone discovered that six ducklings had fallen one metre down the drain.
Police said one of their officers embarked on the "free ducklings mission." With a crow bar and shovel in hand, the officer popped off the drain cover and scooped up the ducks.
Police said the babies were quickly reunited with their distraught mother, and the family resumed its journey.
