A 42-year-old fisherman who was sent to hospital after falling overboard from a fishing boat on the South Shore has died, according to Nova Scotia RCMP.

A 42-year-old fisherman who was sent to hospital after falling overboard from a fishing boat on the South Shore has died, according to Nova Scotia RCMP.

Stephen Darin Hanson, of Queens County, died Monday night in hospital.

Emergency crews, including members of the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre, rushed to Port Mouton after they got a call just before 8:30 a.m. on Monday that a man had fallen off a fishing vessel.

He was taken to a wharf in Central Port Mouton and was airlifted in critical condition to Shearwater. He was then transported by ambulance to a Halifax hospital.

RCMP said they do not suspect foul play in Hanson's death.
