RCMP in Nova Scotia are investigating a fatal head-on crash in Cole Harbour that killed a 51-year-old woman and sent a 72-year-old man to hospital on Monday.

At approximately 4 p.m., a Toyota collided with a GM pickup truck on the Forest Hills Parkway.

The 51-year-old woman, who was driving the Toyota, died at the scene.

RCMP said she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the truck.

Paramedics transported the driver of the truck, a 72-year-old man from Cole Harbour, to hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Forest Hills Parkway between Montague Road and Main Street was expected to be closed until at least 7 p.m.
