Police seek witnesses in fatal scooter accident
Investigators looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision May 3
Police investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to a fatal scooter accident that occurred on Saturday in Dartmouth.
On May 3, at 11:05 a.m., police responded to a car and pedestrian collision at the intersection of Thistle Street and Victoria Road in Dartmouth.
A 57-year-old woman using a three-wheeled scooter was travelling north, crossing Thistle Street in a marked crosswalk.
A white pickup truck driven by a 50-year-old man collided with the pedestrian while making a left turn.
The woman later died in hospital.
Investigators spoke with a number of witnesses at the scene and determined that four to five other vehicles turned from Victoria Road to Thistle Street moments before the pickup truck collided with the pedestrian.
Investigators are looking to speak with these drivers, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision.
This is the first accident involving a motorized scooter this year — and the first pedestrian fatality of the year.
