Police respond to a rash of morning crashes around N.S.

A driver is facing charges after he hit a 16-year-old boy in a marked crosswalk near Citadel High School Thursday morning.

Police said they were called to the scene on Bell Road around 9 a.m. They said the teen was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The 50-year-old driver has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police in the Annapolis Valley are asking drivers to slow down and leave more room between them and other drivers. They've responded to seven crashes and vehicles going off the road, since 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.

At least one person was flown to the hospital.

Highway 101 was closed earlier between New Minas and Berwick.
