Halifax Regional Police are investigating after a man was attacked by a group men with a baseball bat and his wallet was stolen in Dartmouth early Saturday morning.

The attack happened between midnight and 1 a.m. Saturday at a beach on Penhorn Lake.

Police say the victim was at the beach with two acquaintances when he was approached by three males. One of them assaulted the man with a bat while the other two stole his wallet.

The victim went to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later released.

The investigation is ongoing.

In an unrelated incident, around 7 p.m. Friday night HRP officers received an anonymous report that a man was attacking another man with a bat in the area of Primrose Street and Victoria Road.

Police found a man matching the description from the caller and found a knife on the man during a search. A bat was found nearby.

A 41-year-old man is facing multiple weapons charges and is being held in custody as a result; however, a victim has not come forward.
