A string of robberies that began Friday night in Cape Breton have police investigating.

The first incident happened Friday, just before 10 p.m. when an armed man robbed a gas station in North Sydney.

Between 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Saturday there were two additional attempted robberies at gas stations in North Sydney and Bras D’or.

Then, just before 8 a.m. Saturday, a man with his face covered and carrying a weapon robbed a Needs store in Sydney Mines.

Staff Sgt. Reg Hutchins, with Cape Breton Regional Police, said one man was arrested after they arrived at the Needs store on Saturday.

"Members responded to the scene there and upon arrival at the scene they were given a brief description of the suspect. Upon checking the area, one male suspect was arrested," said Hutchins. "At this point, our major crime members are currently investigating to see if all the incidents are related."

Hutchins said police suspect the robberies are connected. The man described in all four incidents matches the description given by clerks from all the locations.

No one was hurt in any of the incidents.
