A police dog bit a bystander while officers were taking a suspected drunk driver into custody in Middleton, N.S., Friday.

Police describe the bite as accidental.

The victim required treatment for a minor injury.

The RCMP said they were arresting a 56-year-old man at the time. They say he pulled out a knife and made threats to an officer.

That man was ultimately taken down with a stun gun.

He also required treatment for a minor injury.

RCMP could not say whether the dog that bit the bystander would be taken off duty.
