Halifax police are asking for the public's help in connection with the suspicious death of a woman found on a trail in Shubie Park in Dartmouth Saturday morning.

Staff Sgt. Bill Morris told CBC News the body was found at about 10:40 a.m. in an area of the park called Vivian's Way.

"This morning we received a call from a person that was walking in the park that they discovered what they believed to be a deceased person," Morris said.

"We met with the person and they led us into the park and pointed out where the body was."

The woman has been identified, but her name isn't being released until all family members have been notified.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating the woman's car, a 2000 red Chevrolet Venture van with a temporary permit  in one of its windows.

Police spokeswoman Theresa Rath did say "100 per cent, it is not the body of Melissa Peacock," who hasn't been seen since Nov. 7.

The rest of Shubie Park is open.
