A man was arrested in Dartmouth early Wednesday morning after allegedly assaulting a woman, setting fire to a kitchen and then jumping from a second-storey window to flee.

Halifax Regional Police were called to an apartment on Courtney Road around 12:40 a.m.

A police dog was brought in to track the perpetrator and a suspect was arrested about 40 minutes later.
