A paramedic facing multiple charges of sexual assault is now the subject of a lawsuit.

A Fall River woman who alleges she was sexually assaulted by James Duncan Keats in the back of an ambulance is suing the paramedic, the province, the Capital District Health Authority and EMS Emergency Medical Care Inc.

She’s seeking damages for pain and suffering, psychological harm and other losses.

Keats faces a series of criminal charges relating to alleged incidents between Dec. 20, 2010, and April 21, 2013, involving women ranging from 24 to 64 years of age.

The accusations relate to periods when patients were being transported in an EHS ambulance from Windsor, Fall River and Lower Sackville to hospital.
