An unconscious man awoke, got angry and chased away the paramedic who was working on him, Halifax Regional Police say.

It happened Saturday evening in an apartment on Wyse Road in Dartmouth.

Police say the paramedic was helping an unconscious man when the man regained consciousness, became combative and pulled a knife.

The paramedic was chased out of the apartment. He wasn't hurt.

A 31-year-old man is expected to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Monday to face charges of assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breaching a court order.
