Police say two of the three people found dead after a Halifax-area house fire were the victims of homicide. 

"Investigators with the homicide unit of the integrated criminal investigation division have determined an 81-year-old man and a 54-year-old women found by emergency responders were murdered," said Cpl. Greg Church in a media release.

The cause of death for the third person remains under investigation. 

A 30-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning after ramming two police cars in the Milford area, located about 55 kilometres northeast of Halifax.

The house on the Old Guysborough Road near Wyses Corner, N.S., was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Police say at around 12:45 a.m. Thursday, a man was arrested in connection to the fire after he rammed two police vehicles with his car in the Milford area, located about 55 kilometres northeast of Halifax.

Five Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency stations responded, along with firefighters from the Enfield and Stewiacke stations.

Ten trucks and 30 firefighters fought the fire. Halifax spokesman Brendan Elliott said the integrated Halifax Regional Police & RCMP Integrated Major Crime unit are investigating the scene.
