The union that represents nurses and home care workers who were on strike earlier this year in the Halifax area has filed court papers, challenging the legislation that effectively ended the home care workers walkout.
The Nova Scotia General Employees Union has gone to Nova Scotia Supreme Court.
The passage of Bill 30 ended the short-lived strike of more than 400 Northwood Homecare Ltd. employees who hit the picket lines on Feb. 28.
The union argues Bill 30 limits their power to bargain fairly.
"This legislation is a serious affront to workers' rights," NSGEU president Joan Jessome said in a statement in March.
This decision to pursue legal action makes good on a threat the NSGEU made when the bill was passed into law.
