A home was completely destroyed after a fire around 6:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Resident Brian Young heard what he described as "cracking" sounds, got his family up and fled the house.

The cause of the fire has not been released, but fire officials say it appears to have been accidental.

The Young family is well-known in the area. Young is a former politician who started raising awareness about organ donation after his daughter Carmen died in 1992 after a double lung transplant.
