The Cabot Trail near Margaree Forks opened both lanes Friday afternoon after one lane was closed due to a mudslide Wednesday.

Department of Transportation workers mopped up thousands of kilograms of mud and debris on the Cape Breton road after it was hit with two mudslides in two days.

Jersey barriers are in place along the shoulder as a precaution to prevent the possible spread of unstable soil.

Warning signs remain on the roads in advance of the site.

The passage will be monitored over the weekend.

The East Margaree Cross Road bridge is closed because of flooding.
