A family dog that disappeared from his Lower Sackville home earlier this month has been found after apparently weathering the blizzard that struck the Maritimes on Wednesday.
Gulluk's grateful owners welcomed him back home after the dog was found near Peggys Cove Road, 17 days after he disappeared.
"I don't think I ever cried so hard in my life," said Louise Leonard, daughter of the owners.
Gulluk was found sleeping, and was hungry and tired. He's dropped a lot of weight but his lungs and heart are in good shape, according to a veterinarian.
The family had put out an urgent appeal on Facebook for help finding the husky and were particularly worried about Wednesday's storm.
Gulluk, who is 10 years old, scaled a mesh retaining wall and then jumped a 1.8-metre fence. He's a retired sled dog that was adopted from Labrador.
There have been sightings of Gulluk over the last two weeks, with people reporting his location through the Facebook page.
No one had been able to catch up with him until now.
