Maritime Bus will start a new shuttle service from the airport to downtown Halifax beginning on Monday.
For the first two weeks of "soft launch" the bus will make drop offs at all the major downtown hotels, plus Dalhousie and St. Mary's University campuses, but it won't do pick ups.
Maritime Bus said it will then be able to gauge which locations are the most popular, and adjust the route accordingly.
The buses will be 24-seaters, and take roughly an hour and a half to get from the first hotel to the airport stop. The final plan will be in place by Sept. 3.
According to the Maritime Bus website the shuttle will stop at the following Halifax locations:
- Atlantica Hotel
- Cambridge Suites Hotel
- Delta Barrington
- Delta Halifax
- Four Points Sheraton
- Halifax Marriott Harbourfront
- Marriott Courtyard
- Marriott Residence Inn
- Radisson Suites
- Lord Nelson Hotel
- Prince George Hotel
- Saint Mary's University
- Dalhousie University
It will stop at the following Dartmouth locations:
- Hampton Inn and Suites
- Holiday Inn Harbourview
The price of a single adult one-way ticket will be $22, including taxes.
The last Airporter shuttle closed down in October 2012, after a history of financial trouble. Still, Maritime Bus believes having between seven and 14 flexible route times can make the run viable.
