Environment Canada issues gale warning

Marine Atlantic ferries are crossing the Cabot Strait again after high winds and high seas kept the boats dockside overnight.

Gusting winds forced the company to cancel Monday’s 11:45 p.m. crossing out of North Sydney and Port aux Basques. They were rescheduled to leave at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, but put off until 11:45 a.m.

Environment Canada issued a gale warning for the Cabot Strait, but the latest forecast calls for winds to die down on Tuesday afternoon.

Marine Atlantic said it recommends customers check their website or call 1-800-341-7981 for updated information.
