Man surrenders after barricading himself in Fairview home

Halifax Regional Police have cleared an area around a home in Fairview where it's believed a man with a knife has barricaded himself inside.

Halifax Regional Police have arrested a man who barricaded himself in his Fairview apartment.

Police say they received a call at 7:51 a.m. from the man. Officers suspected he had a knife and cleared the area around the Evans Avenue apartment as a precaution.

The Emergency Response Team, a crisis negotiator and EHS were called to the scene. 

The man surrendered at 12:08 p.m. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre and police say he won't likely be charged.
